Search Alpine County Inmate Records

Alpine County inmate records work differently than records in counties with a local jail. The county does not operate an Alpine jail or publish an Alpine-only jail roster, so a search usually starts by identifying which outside custody system received the person after arrest. Recent arrestees may be routed through a contracted jail, while later records may belong to the court, the state prison system, a federal agency, immigration custody, or a victim-notification service. An Alpine County jail roster search is therefore a chain of checks rather than one local database.

No Alpine Jail Roster Exists

The official Alpine County path begins with a simple fact: Alpine County has no jail facilities. The Alpine County Sheriff's Office states that jail services are contracted to El Dorado County and Calaveras County, and the Alpine Superior Court criminal page gives the same custody direction. That means there is no locally operated Alpine County Jail, no local rated jail capacity, and no Alpine-only inmate roster to refresh.

For a recent arrest, call the Alpine County Sheriff's Office at (530) 694-2231 first if the housing location is unknown. The Sheriff's Office is the local arresting agency and can route questions about an Alpine arrest, a booking appointment, or an arresting-agency record. If the person has already been transported to a contract jail, search El Dorado County Citizen RIMS, Calaveras County Citizen RIMS, or call the relevant jail directly.

The Alpine Sheriff's page is the official source for the no-jail contract structure.

That no-jail notice is why an Alpine County inmate records search has to follow the agency chain rather than assuming a single county jail database.

How to Find Someone in Alpine Custody

Use this order when the question is, "how do I find someone in the Alpine jail?" There is no Alpine jail to search, so the goal is to confirm the housing agency and then read the correct custody record.

  1. Call Alpine County Sheriff at (530) 694-2231 if the arrest is fresh, the arrest happened in Alpine County, or the destination facility is unknown.
  2. Search El Dorado County Citizen RIMS, especially for people housed at South Lake Tahoe Jail or Placerville Jail.
  3. Search Calaveras Citizen RIMS and call Calaveras Jail at (209) 754-6499 when the incident involved the Bear Valley or west slope side, or when Alpine staff says Calaveras was used.
  4. Use Alpine Superior Court records if the question is about filed charges, case status, court minutes, a complaint, or disposition rather than current custody.
  5. Use CDCR CIRIS for sentenced state prisoners, BOP for federal sentenced custody, and ICE ODLS for immigration detention.
  6. Register with VINELink for custody-status notifications where the participating jail system supports VINE.

The El Dorado County Citizen RIMS incarcerated people portal is the public roster system linked through the El Dorado County Sheriff's custody materials.

If an Alpine arrestee was booked into South Lake Tahoe or Placerville, this is the roster most likely to show the booking record when it is publicly displayable.

Contract Roster Search Fields

El Dorado and Calaveras use Citizen RIMS style public portals. The interface is JavaScript-rendered, and the public view is designed around date and name filters plus sortable booking columns. The raw API is not a public unauthenticated records source, so the practical public method is the roster interface itself.

What a Roster Record Shows

Citizen RIMS records are booking-based. They do not replace a court file, a statewide criminal-history record, or a prison locator. A public roster entry may show basic booking facts, charge rows, bail fields, and a photo when the agency enables those fields and the record qualifies for display.

FieldWhat It Shows
Booking IDThe jail booking number used to identify the custody record.
Full NameThe public roster name when the agency's name-display setting is enabled.
Booking Date and TimeWhen the jail booking was entered into the roster system.
Arresting Agency CodeThe agency tied to the arrest or booking. For an Alpine case, this may help separate an Alpine arrest from a local El Dorado or Calaveras arrest.
Arrest LocationLocation text associated with the arrest or charge.
Total BailBooking-level bail amount when displayed by the portal.
StatusCustody or booking status as published in the contractor roster.
PhotoBooking photo if the contractor agency publishes photos and one is present for the record.
DemographicsDate of birth, age, sex, race, height, weight, hair, eyes, build, or complexion if enabled.
ChargesCharge rows can include count, code, description, level, arresting agency, arrest date, arrest location, and bail amount.

Housing unit and court date were not located in the public Citizen RIMS field inventory reviewed for these contractor systems. Confirm actual housing, release eligibility, and court-transport questions with the jail or court before traveling.

County, State, Federal, and ICE Searches

A contractor jail roster is for local custody. It is the right starting point for pretrial detainees, short local sentences, and recent bookings housed by El Dorado or Calaveras. It is not the right tool for someone already received into state prison, federal prison, or immigration detention.

The CDCR CIRIS locator is the statewide California prison search, not a jail roster.

Contract Facilities Serving Alpine Arrests

Alpine County records may connect to several outside custody locations. South Lake Tahoe Jail is the primary named facility in the Alpine court custody FAQ. Placerville Jail is part of the El Dorado custody system and appears in historical Alpine custody material. Calaveras County Adult Detention Facility is relevant because Alpine official sources say jail services are also contracted to Calaveras County, especially for practical west slope and Bear Valley routing.

Booking and Intake Records

Alpine booking can happen in two ways. A custody arrest may lead to transport to a contract jail for fingerprints, photo, property inventory, screening, classification, and a booking record. A person who was cited or ordered to appear may instead receive a booking-appointment requirement before arraignment. Alpine Superior Court says booking appointments must be scheduled with the Sheriff's Office, walk-ins are not accepted, legal documents must be brought, fingerprints are taken, a criminal history search is run, and a booking fee is charged.

That split matters for search failures. A person may not appear in El Dorado or Calaveras Citizen RIMS if they were cited and released, have not completed a booking appointment, were released before the roster updated, are held under a confidential status, were transferred, or moved into CDCR, BOP, ICE, or another agency's custody.

Visitation, Mail, Phone, and Money Channels

Visiting and contact rules depend on the housing jail. El Dorado visiting is in person, first come, first served, requires proper identification, allows only one visitor at a time except a minor with a parent or guardian, bars personal property from the visiting area, and closes visiting on legal holidays. South Lake Tahoe evening visiting confirmation is (530) 573-3030, and Placerville evening visiting confirmation is (530) 621-6000.

Requesting Records Not Online

Route a records request by the office that created the record. Alpine Sheriff's Office handles Alpine arresting-agency records, booking appointments, incident reports, and local law-enforcement records. El Dorado or Calaveras handles custody records created after a person is booked into that contractor jail. Alpine Superior Court handles court records such as the complaint, pleas and disposition, register of actions, minute orders, and copies from the court file.

Alpine Superior Court does not provide an online case portal or a public access terminal at the courthouse. Court records are requested in person, by mail, or by fax, and the court does not process name search or copy requests submitted by email. Name searches generally require the person's full legal name, aliases, and date of birth, and the court searches back 10 years unless otherwise specified.

Confirm before acting: Current custody, release eligibility, visit approval, and money deposits should be verified with the housing jail because records can lag behind transfers, releases, holds, and court orders.
