Alpine Does Not Publish a Local Mugshot Roster
Alpine County does not operate a local jail, so it does not publish a local Alpine jail roster or Alpine mugshot gallery. The Alpine County Sheriff's Office says jail services are contracted to El Dorado County and Calaveras County. The Alpine Superior Court criminal page also says there are no jail facilities in Alpine County and directs custody-status questions to El Dorado County Jail or the El Dorado online service.
That structure controls mugshot access. A photo may appear only if the person was booked into a contractor system, the contractor agency publishes booking photos for that record, and the public roster is still displaying the entry. Where to Find Alpine County Booking Photos
Start with housing, not with the word mugshot. Alpine has no local mugshot feed, and the same person can generate records in several offices: an Alpine Sheriff's arrest record, a contractor jail booking record, an Alpine Superior Court case record, and later a CDCR, BOP, ICE, or VINE record depending on custody path.

- Open the roster record. If an inmate photo is enabled and present, the Citizen RIMS interface can display an "Incarcerated Person Photo."
- If no photo appears, request the booking record or booking photo from the office that created it. For an Alpine arrest housed elsewhere, that may mean Alpine Sheriff for the arresting-agency record and El Dorado or Calaveras for the jail booking record.
- Use Alpine Superior Court records only for court-file documents. The court record is not a mugshot gallery.

The safer reading is that visibility depends on the contractor roster, the record status, agency configuration, legal restrictions, and whether the person remains within the public display rules. A person may also disappear from one roster because of release, transfer, nondisclosure, sealing, relief, a data refresh, or movement to another custody system.
What is and isn't public: A roster may show a photo, booking ID, date, charges, bail, demographics, and status when those fields are enabled. It may also withhold a photo or other details, and a broader criminal-history or court-file request follows different rules than a roster view.
How to Request an Alpine County Booking Photo

The court does not provide an online case portal or public access terminal, and it does not process name-search or copy requests by email. Requests are made in person, by mail, or by fax. Mugshot Removal and Relief-Granted Records
Official sources reviewed did not identify a special Alpine, El Dorado, or Calaveras public mugshot-removal form. If a record has been sealed, granted automatic relief, dismissed, or otherwise restricted, ask the agency that published or controls the photo whether the public roster record can be suppressed, updated, or redacted. Ask for the legal basis if a photo is withheld or if the agency declines to change a public display.
Alpine Superior Court says it receives monthly notifications of cases eligible for automatic criminal record relief under Clean Slate law and will not disclose information concerning a conviction granted relief except to the person or a criminal justice agency. CDCR CIRIS, BOP, ICE ODLS, and VINELink are not substitutes for a county booking-photo roster. CDCR CIRIS is for people currently in California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation custody. CA.gov says CIRIS results can include name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and Board of Parole Hearing dates or outcomes. That is a state-prison locator field set, not an Alpine jail mugshot gallery.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and can search by number or by name. BOP public search results are federal custody records and release/location information, not a county mugshot feed. ICE ODLS is a detainee-location system for immigration custody, with A-number and biographical search options and a limit that it cannot search records of persons under age 18. VINELink is a notification tool for custody-status changes, not a source for booking photos.
The Federal BOP inmate locator is useful only when the person is in federal custody or has a federal custody record.
If the person does not appear in BOP, that does not rule out local jail, state prison, immigration, release, or another agency's custody.
Avoid Commercial Mugshot Sites
Use official rosters, agency records requests, court records, CDCR, BOP, ICE, and VINELink rather than commercial mugshot-publishing or pay-to-remove sites. Unofficial sites can be stale, incomplete, or wrong, and they may continue showing material after an official record changes. The official chain is slower in a no-jail county like Alpine, but it keeps the request tied to the agency that created the record and can explain why a photo is public, withheld, redacted, or no longer displayed.
